Rally the votes

In 2022, IMAGE127 partnered with Blueprint NC of North Carolina to spearhead a series of impactful rallies in Greensboro, North Carolina, focused on advocating for voter rights and education. These events were not just about mobilizing voters but also about equipping them with crucial information and resources to ensure their voices were heard at the polls.

Located at the Brown Educational Center, these rallies became pivotal gatherings where community members gathered to learn about their rights, register to vote, and understand the importance of civic engagement. The partnership with Blueprint of North Carolina bolstered these efforts, providing essential support and expertise in voter protection and advocacy.

At each rally, IMAGE127 emphasized several key components of voter protection:

1. Education and Information: Workshops and seminars were held to educate attendees on voter rights, voter registration processes, and how to navigate potential challenges at the polls.

2. Legal Guidance: Legal experts were on hand to provide information on voter laws, answer questions, and address concerns regarding voter suppression or intimidation.

3. Community Engagement: Beyond advocacy, these rallies fostered community unity and solidarity, empowering residents to come together around a common cause—ensuring every voice counts in our democratic process.

One memorable event night stood out among the rallies—a family-friendly affair that combined advocacy with entertainment. IMAGE127 transformed the atmosphere by including popcorn machines, cotton candy treats, and inflatables for children. This not only drew families together but also created a relaxed setting where parents could engage in meaningful discussions about voting rights while their children enjoyed the festivities.

The impact of these rallies extended beyond voter registration numbers. They symbolized a community united in its commitment to democracy and equality. By providing both practical support and a welcoming environment, IMAGE127 and Blueprint of North Carolina successfully empowered residents to take charge of their civic responsibilities.

Looking ahead, IMAGE127 remains dedicated to continuing these efforts, expanding voter education initiatives, and advocating for equitable access to the ballot box. Together with our partners and community supporters, we strive to build a future where every voice is heard and every vote matters. Join us in shaping a brighter, more inclusive democracy for all.

Cuts, curls, and More!

Picture day—a time for smiles and memories captured in a flash. Yet, for some students at Hairston Middle School in Greensboro, NC, the excitement was marred by worries about their appearance. That's when Rod Butler, our dedicated founder and then-employee of the school, noticed a group of students hesitant to take their pictures because of unkempt hair or lack of styling.

Inspired to make a difference, Rod quickly organized a unique event: "Cuts, Curls, and More". Gathering barbers and hairstylists willing to volunteer their time, Rod orchestrated a day where students could receive professional grooming before picture day. The goal was simple yet profound—empower students by boosting their confidence through a fresh haircut or a stylish hairdo.

The response was overwhelming. On the scheduled day, Hairston Middle School buzzed with energy as barbers and hairstylists worked their magic. Students lined up eagerly, their apprehension transforming into smiles and pride. The impact was immediate and tangible, with each student leaving the chairs with a renewed sense of self-esteem.

The success of "Cuts, Curls, and More" resonated far beyond that initial event. Recognizing its positive influence, the initiative was replicated throughout Guilford County and became a staple at Hairston Middle School, repeated multiple times. Each iteration reaffirmed the importance of addressing not just academic needs but also the holistic well-being of students.

Beyond the shears and scissors, this event exemplifies our core mission at IMAGE127—to empower individuals, uplift communities, and reflect God's image through practical actions. It's about more than just a haircut; it's about instilling confidence, promoting dignity, and nurturing the potential within each student.

As we look to the future, we are committed to expanding such initiatives, ensuring that every student, regardless of background or circumstance, has the opportunity to feel valued and prepared for life's milestones. Join us in celebrating the power of compassion and community. Together, we can continue making a meaningful impact—one cut, one curl, and one smile at a time.

IMAGE127's tournament

On a bright, sunny weekend in Greensboro, North Carolina, the local high school gymnasium buzzed with energy and excitement. The nonprofit organization Image127 hosted an unforgettable basketball tournament that brought together youth and young adults from across the state. More than just a sports event, this tournament was a vibrant community gathering and a testament to the power of collective effort for a worthy cause.

The high school gymnasium was transformed into an arena of sportsmanship and camaraderie, where young athletes could shine on the court. The cheers of supportive fans and the buzz of the game filled the air, creating an electric atmosphere.

While the tournament served as an exciting sporting event, its primary purpose was fundraising. Image127’s mission to support local youth initiatives and programs was at the heart of the event. Through ticket sales, donations, and vendor contributions, the tournament successfully raised funds to continue their impactful work in the community.

The event was not just about basketball; it was a celebration of community spirit. Local vendors set up stalls around the venue, offering a variety of goods and services. From food trucks serving delicious treats to craft vendors displaying handmade items, attendees had plenty of options to explore and enjoy. Image127 made sure to cater to everyone in attendance. For the hardworking moms cheering from the stands, the "Mommy Station" provided a perfect retreat. Moms could visit nail techs, lash techs, and makeup artists to pamper themselves and take a break from the excitement of the games. Meanwhile, dads were not left out; a pop-up barbershop was set up, offering haircuts and grooming services for the gentlemen.

The success of the event was a true reflection of the community’s support and enthusiasm. Families, friends, and neighbors came out in large numbers to be part of the festivities. The unity and collective effort displayed during the tournament underscored the importance of community events in fostering connections and building a supportive environment for young people.
